HOUSTON, TX - Recognition is not something out of the ordinary for the Houston Dynamo. Tomorrow, the team will receive precisely that at the Texas State Capitol in Austin.
Dynamo Forward Paul Dalglish, Defender Craig Waibel, Midfielder Stuart Holden, Head Coach Dominic Kinnear, and Chief Operating Officer Chris Canetti will be on hand for a full day of activities at both the Senate and House of Representatives.
"We are thrilled about being recognized at the Texas State Capitol tomorrow," said Dynamo Chief Operating Officer Chris Canetti. "Our team was extremely successful last season, and this honor is a reflection of that success. We look forward to many more visits to the State Capitol in the future."
Among the many activities lined up for the team tomorrow will be photo opportunities on the second floor steps of the State Capitol (9:15 a.m.), and with members of both the State Senate and House of Representatives (9:32 a.m.). The team will also receive a congratulatory resolution at the House of Representatives (10:05 a.m.), and attend a reception at 12:00 p.m. in the Lieutenant Governor's Reception Hall.
The 2006 MLS Cup Champions will return to Houston tomorrow evening, only to depart for Charleston, South Carolina, on Thursday to participate in the Carolina Challenge Cup, of which they are also the defending champions. The team will open its regular season on Sunday, April 8, against the Los Angeles Galaxy. Kickoff for this game is slated for 6:00 p.m. CT.
