Local league presidents met with Dynamo President and GM Oliver Luck.

HOUSTON, TX - After a year-long effort to unite Houston's adult amateur soccer leagues, the Houston Dynamo is pleased to announce the creation of the Dynamo Champions' Cup, a joint effort between the Major League Soccer Champions and the teams affiliated with it.

The announcement was made this morning at the Houston Dynamo offices by team President and General Manager Oliver Luck, Chief Operating Officer Chris Canetti, and the presidents of the various participating soccer leagues.

"We feel very happy to be able to bring this project to fruition," said Luck. "We hope to be able to have more teams participate in this tournament as the years go by, so we can all together turn soccer into Houston's sport."

A total of 16 teams, the champions of their respective leagues, will participate in the tournament's first season, which will start this summer. Among the leagues participating in the Dynamo Champions Cup are the Latino Soccer League, United Soccer League, Texas International Soccer League, Houston Football Association, Holanda Soccer League, and Bellaire Soccer League, among others.

The tournament's championship game will be played at Robertson Stadium at a date and time yet to be determined. Infinity Insurance, HEB, Aeroméxico, Mustang Cat, KHOU-Channel 11, Adidas, Gallery Furniture, Pelón Pelo Rico, Cricket Wireless and Pine O Pine will sponsor the tournament.
