Henderson Foundation to Donate $1,100 to L&L Society

The Chris Henderson Foundation, created by New York Red Bulls midfielder Chris Henderson, will donate a check of $1,100 to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society this week.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. Their missions: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since it's founding in 1949, the Society has invested more than $483 million for research specifically targeting blood cancers.

"Over the past few years, we have been able to work closely with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society," Henderson said. "We share the passion in their mission to improve the quality of life for patients and their families and will continue to work with and support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in the name of soccer for years to come."

Henderson also plans to host a fundraiser later this year in New York City with proceeds going to his foundation and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

"We are currently working on a fundraiser for late fall to help both organizations. We have had some great events in the past few years and The Chris Henderson Foundation hopes this year's event will top them all. This year, we have been pleased with all the volunteers and support we have received in the tri-state area," Henderson said.

The Chris Henderson Foundation, a not-for-profit organization started in January 2004 to provide free programs and grants that are designed to help underprivileged children. This season, Henderson sponsors several children stricken with Leukemia to attend every home Red Bulls game at Giants Stadium.
