Head injury has Vidic's status in doubt

A head injury could leave Man U without Nemanja Vidic in Tuesday's Champions League match with Dynamo Kiev.

Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic remains a fitness doubt for Tuesday's away Champions League group encounter with Dynamo Kiev.

The Serbian centre-back missed United's 4-1 win at Aston Villa because he was still suffering from the knock to the head suffered in the 4-0 win over Wigan a fortnight ago.

United will assess the condition of Vidic over the next 24 hours before deciding if he can fly out with the remainder of the squad tomorrow.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: "Vidic is a doubt for Tuesday. He trained on Friday but he is still feeling some reaction to the knock he got against Wigan.

"In that situation you can't take a chance. I'm hopeful he will be ready. We will see how he is. He will be close but I'm not so sure he will be ready to play in Kiev."

If Vidic is ruled out then Wes Brown is likely to partner Rio Ferdinand at the heart of the United back four.
