Hammers enjoying time in Toronto

Manager Alan Curbishley and West Ham United are enjoying their time training in Toronto.

West Ham United trained at BMO Field on Wednesday morning ahead of the 2008 Pepsi MLS All-Star game Thursday night. West Ham manager Alan Curbishley told TorontoFC.CA his squad are enjoying their time in Toronto.

"Ever since the game was arranged, the feedback has been that Toronto is a sporting city," said Curbishley. "We've found that out over the last couple of days. There are so many events going on. Some of the players went off to the tennis yesterday and we know the golf is here. Obviously there was a big game here last night as well and quite a few of the players came to the game here. So we know it's a big sporting week, and the atmosphere around the city at the moment is second to none."

"Obviously we've heard about the Toronto fans and we saw a bit of that yesterday," said Curbishley. "Our fans are quite volatile as well and they get behind their team, so we're looking forward to it tomorrow night."

Curbishley is impressed with the way Major League Soccer is developing. "The MLS is going to keep getting stronger. Obviously the league attracted David Beckham to come, and other players are coming over here at the right age. A few years back, the players were coming over at the wrong age, but that's changed. The coaches are coming over as well and that is important. I also think more North American footballers will feature in the Premier League. We have a few there at the moment, and I think there are going to be more, because the American and Canadian players have the right attributes to play in the Premier League."
