Grabavoy taken by San Jose in expansion draft

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Major League Soccer held its 2007 Expansion Draft Wednesday for the League's 14th team, the San Jose Earthquakes, which selected 10 players to begin constructing its roster for the 2008 season. The Earthquakes selected one player each from 10 of the 13 MLS teams, including midfielder Ned Grabavoy from the Crew. San Jose will begin play in the Western Conference in the 2008 season, at Buck Shaw Stadium on the campus of Santa Clara University.

The 24-year-old Grabavoy recently completed his fourth MLS season. He was originally selected by Los Angeles in the second round (No. 14 overall) of the 2004 MLS SuperDraft, then acquired by the Columbus via trade on May 12, 2006.
