Game Notes: Chicago vs. D.C. United



• Chad Barrett scored the first goal of the match in the 27th minute, running onto a ball played by Blanco from the midfield into the box. From 8 yards out, Barrett placed the ball into the left side of the net past goalkeeper Zach Wells.


• D.C. forward Jaime Moreno notched the first goal for D.C. in the 63rd minute, receiving a rebound off Fire goalkeeper Jon Busch putting away the point-blank effort for the equalizer.


• United forward Luciano Emilio scored the game-winning goal for D.C. in the third minute of stoppage time, receiving a ball from Rod Dyachenko in the deep left corner. Emilio dribbled past two Fire defenders into the box, cut inside, and hit a right-footed shot inside the near post.


• The Chicago Fire received their first ejection of the season as Brandon Prideaux received a red card in the 55th minute. D.C. midfielder Marcelo Gallardo received a red card in the scuffle, serving as D.C.'s first ejection of the season as well. Bryan Namoff received a second caution ejection in the 88th minute.


• For the first time in 2008, the Fire have dropped a contest after leading at the half. The Fire are now 5-1-0 when ahead at half time.

• Chicago Fire head coach Denis Hamlett on the game: "Obviously it was disappointing to lose at end of the game like that. It wasn't our best game. We had a good start, I think we played well for the first 15 minutes but we didn't get out of first gear. Jon Busch had quite a few saves that kept us in the game tonight."


• Fire goalkeeper Jon Busch on the second goal: "It was 1-1 late in the game, we're at home and we want to get that second goal; but we've got to be smart too. We can't have Diego one-on-one.
