Galaxy face-off vs. Whitecaps in friendly

CARSON - The LA Galaxy and KWHY-TV Channel 22 announced today that the LA station will broadcast the club's first international friendly of the postseason against the Vancouver Whitecaps. KWHY Ch. 22, the home of Galaxy Deportivo every Saturday at 5:30 p.m., will air the Galaxy-Whitecaps match locally on Wednesday, November 7, live at 7 p.m. (PT) from BC Place Stadium.

Alejandro Navarro and Elmer Polanco, hosts of the popular Galaxy Deportivo, will have the call of the game with Navarro providing the play-by-play and Polanco serving as the lead analyst.

The game will feature the Galaxy's legion of stars including David Beckham, Landon Donovan and Cobi Jones facing the Whitecaps in front of an expected crowd of more than 45,000 fans in downtown Vancouver.

KWHY-TV is owned and operated by Telemundo, the fastest growing U.S. Spanish-language television network. Telemundo reaches 93% of U.S. Hispanic viewers through its 16 owned and operated stations and more than 50 broadcast affiliates. Telemundo is a wholly owned and operated subsidiary of NBC, the nation's leading broadcast network.

In addition, KWHY-TV airs Galaxy Deportivo, which provides soccer fans in the Southland with most extensive coverage of the Galaxy every season. In addition, the show continues its signature coverage of Galaxy players and fans in the Hispanic community.

This game will be the Galaxy's second of five postseason friendlies on the schedule, with trips to Minnesota, Australia and New Zealand to follow later in the month and into early December.

The Galaxy open their postseason schedule with a special Charity Match against Hollywood United at The Home Depot Center on Sunday, Nov. 4. All proceeds from this game will go to the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army to help aid in their efforts to assist those affected by the wildfires that have ravaged Southern California this month. Thanks in large to the Herbalife Family Foundation underwriting the match, all proceeds from the game, including donations collected on the day of the game and money raised through a series of silent auctions, will go to directly to the two aforementioned charities.
