Galaxy claim victory in first preseason match

CARSON, CA - The Los Angeles Galaxy defeated Loyola Marymount University (LMU) 2-0, on Thursday morning at The Home Depot Center. A crowd of 40 fans and front office staff witnessed the Galaxy's first preseason match of the year.

Newcomer Robbie Findley tallied the Galaxy's opening goal in the 7th minute, as he dribbled through a pair of LMU defenders and fired the shot past the Lions goalkeeper, giving the Galaxy a 1-0 advantage. The Galaxy continued to pressure the LMU defense as they pressed the ball forward the rest of the first half.

Laurent Merlin put the game away in the 84th minute when he doubled the Galaxy lead. John Thorrington got free on the right and found Merlin in the center of the box, leaving the Frenchmen with a simple tap in to make the score 2-0.

Galaxy Goalkeeper Steve Cronin was called upon to make a few stretching saves, earning him the win playing all 90 minutes.
