CARSON, CA - The Los Angeles Galaxy have finalized the rosters today for the club's exhibition match between the Galaxy Alumni and Hollywood United at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 20 prior to the Galaxy taking on FC Dallas in a key Western Conference match-up at 5:00 p.m. The Galaxy Alumni and members of Hollywood United will also be recognized in a pre-game ceremony before the Galaxy-FC Dallas match. Tickets for the Galaxy-FC Dallas game will be honored for both matches.
"We have assembled an impressive collection of ex-players, actors, musicians and TV personalities," Galaxy President and General Manager Alexi Lalas said. "But in a game like this there exists the potential for extreme humiliation, and we all know there's nothing more enjoyable than watching celebrities fall flat on their face. There's no make-up, no cue-cards, no groupies, no Teleprompters, in short...no hiding. Let's see who has got game!"</p>
Hollywood United is led by Emmy, Tony and Golden Globe award winning actor and star of "Without A Trace", Anthony LaPaglia and former Sex Pistols guitarist and current host of the popular show "Jonsey's Jukebox" on Indie 103.1 FM, Steve Jones. Also suiting up for Hollywood United will be 1998 French National Team player and World Cup winner Frank Le Bouef, as well as other former professional players and soccer playing stars from the world of entertainment.
On Sunday afternoon, Galaxy fans will be able to watch some of the greatest players ever to wear a Galaxy uniform once again, as former El Salvadoran National Team star and seven-time MLS All-Star Mauricio Cienfuegos (1996-2004) leads a formidable team featuring 1990 and 1994 World Cup veteran Paul Caligiuri (1997-2001). The Galaxy Alumni defense boasts the daunting duo of former Galaxy great Robin Fraser (1996-2000) and Alexi Lalas (2001-2003). One of the most decorated defenders to ever play in the league, Fraser is the only defensive player to be named to the MLS Best XI squad five times. Former Galaxy defender Jose Vasquez (1996-1999), currently the head coach of Santa Anna Junior College, also will play for the Galaxy Alumni.
