Galaxy 3, Red Bulls 1 -- quote sheet

LOS ANGELES GALAXY 3, NEW YORK RED BULLS 1 a.e.t.

LOS ANGELES GALAXY GOALKEEPER STEVE CRONIN

On his performance:
"I'm pretty happy with (my performance) but it's a team game. We went 120 minutes and every single player fought so hard and I'm just glad that I was able to do my part to put us in a position to win and in extra time we turned it on a little bit more and got it done."

On his play in the Open Cup this season:
"I had a solid game in Columbus and I've carried that over into the trainings which built up to this game. I've felt good about how I've trained and from the first minute I felt good about the game and how I was doing so I just took it one minute to the next."

On saving Jozy Altidore's 17th-minute penalty:
"It was a boost. I made contact with him (to cause the penalty) but I don't know if it was a foul. But in the end, to be able to make up for my mistake on that was very gratifying."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY MIDFIELDER KYLE MARTINO

On his game-winning goal:
"I think that if you ask Santino (Quaranta), he'll tell you that he was shooting it ... straight at my head. If we tried that 100 times in a row, I don't think that we could duplicate that play. It was an unbelievable ball. He hit perfectly right at me and I just had to redirect it on goal."

On the win:
"We're serious about continuing to play our brand of soccer and if we get a chance to put some hardware in the trophy cases than we're going to do it. It was a good, competitive game, New York played well, and I think that Steve Cronin kept us in it in the first half. He was unbelievable, guys stepped up when they needed to and we got the win."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY MIDFIELDER PETER VAGENAS

On playing his first full game since returning from injury:
"It was fun. It was tiring but everything felt good and we won. So it was all good."

NEW YORK RED BULLS HEAD COACH BRUCE ARENA

On the game:
"I think it was a good game. It was game we should have won, but we didn't. We had enough changes to have buried one, and won the game in regulation. But you have to give credit to Steve Cronin. He had an excellent game tonight."

On Altidore's penalty kick:
"It wasn't real good. We have had four now since preseason, and we have missed all of them. Four different players have taken them, and we haven't made one."

On Juan Pablo Angel:
"I liked what I saw. He got a goal, and a number of goal-scoring opportunities. It was his first time on the field with us, and I was pleased with his performance."

NEW YORK RED BULLS FORWARD JUAN PABLO ANGEL

On his debut:
"I felt good, and the most important thing now is having more regularity. We have an important game coming up against Colorado at home. It will be my debut at home, and I hope to be better than I was tonight."

On MLS:
"It is hard for me judge, because I didn't play a full game. I will have a better understanding of the league as I play some full games."

NEW YORK RED BULLS DEFENDER TODD DUNIVANT

On tonight's game:
"We wanted to win this competition. We wouldn't have flown all the way out here to take a loss. We are disappointed we are out of it so early but we have to focus on what we have now, and you have to take that as a positive. The club is still looking for its first championship, and the Open Cup would have been nice. We will have to set our sights on the MLS Cup now."

On Juan Pablo Angel:
"He is active and gets on the end of things. If he comes out and puts a few of those away, I think you can see a lot of goals from him."

NEW YORK RED BULLS MIDFIELDER CLINT MATHIS

On Juan Pablo Angel:
"He [Juan Pablo Angel] comes in and brings presence. He takes a bit of pressure off the players around him. He has great touch and holds the ball well, and always looks to get in the box. So, he then comes out and scores a big goal for us. I am looking forward to playing with him longer."
