Galaxy 2, Wizards 1 -- quote sheet

LOS ANGELES GALAXY 2, KANSAS CITY WIZARDS 1

LOS ANGELES GALAXY HEAD COACH FRANK YALLOP

On the game:
"I guess it wasn't the best game for us entertainment-wise, but obviously it was very important to get three points at this stage in the season. If you look at the way the team played, they look very fatigued. A lot has to do with mental fatigue because of the tough schedule. For our guys to dig in and win the game was fantastic and their happy."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY FORWARD ALAN GORDON

On the goals:
"Both of the goals were off of great balls. Cobi [Jones] put the ball right in there and I was fortunate enough to get it. Words can't describe the feeling [of scoring]. It is as satisfying as can be. It doesn't really matter who scores, as long as we get the win."

On the Galaxy's play in the second half:
"Frank just told us that we weren't playing like we needed to be playing. We were not playing with the sense of urgency that we needed to have. He just reminded what was at stake, so we were able to regroup and pick ourselves up and get back into the game."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY DEFENDER KYLE VERIS

On the game:
"I just tried to come in there and keep the back solid. We didn't keep the shutout, but I think we stayed solid. We know that we are in dire need of wins to make the playoffs, and that we have to play our hearts out, and I think we did that."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY MIDFIELDER QUAVAS KIRK

On the Galaxy's ability to hold on for win:
"It was a battle from the start. We came out in the second half and [Alan] Gordon scored those two unbelievable goals. We just had to scrap for the last half-hour of that game to keep the win because they were coming at us really hard. It was tough."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY DEFENDER TYRONE MARSHALL

On the game and Galaxy's upcoming schedule:
"We need the bounces to go our way and they did tonight. We got the bounces and the win that we needed. We know the rest of the way is going to be tough. Every year we try to get into the finals. We are going to try to go out there and give our best effort, so next week is going to be a big week for us, but we just need to make sure that we come prepared and rest our bodies well."

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS HEAD COACH BRIAN BLISS

On the game:
"When you get down like that two different times you have to pay attention to the details of protecting the ball. With that being said, that was probably one of our best games to date. I think our guys played hard and well. They had the majority of that game."

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS DEFENDER TYSON WAHL

On playing in his hometown:
"It was definitely exciting to be back home and play in the place where I grew up watching other players play. We didn't get the win so I'm not completely satisfied, but I do think there were some positive things. I can only look forward to next weekend."
