Galaxy 2, Fire 0 -- quote sheet

LOS ANGELES GALAXY 2, CHICAGO FIRE 0

LOS ANGELES GALAXY HEAD COACH FRANK YALLOP

On the result:
"It finally feels like a good all around performance from us and I'm pleased that we could finally get a clean sheet at home. Yeah, we got two penalties but I felt that we created some great chances to win the game and score more goals so I'm very happy."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY GOALKEEPER JOE CANNON

On the win:
"It feels good. I think that the team responded well to our last performance and we didn't really give them a sniff at goal and I thought that it was a great game for us. But with that said, we can't rest on our laurels because we have a big game Saturday."

On the clean sheet:
"There wasn't much to do and that's because of the performance of the guys in front of me. All the credit goes to them because I was very limited in what I had to do."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY MIDFIELDER KYLE MARTINO

On tonight's win:
"It is great to get three points at home, especially because of where we are now. All of these games we have at home; we have to make sure that we make up some points. It was a team effort tonight, and we need that to accomplish some wins. Everyone from top to bottom gave it their all, and we were all on the same page. When it comes to set pieces they have killed us early on, but tonight everyone marked up great. It was just a great defensive effort. LD [Landon Donovan] shot some extraordinary PK's, and from top to bottom everyone did their job."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY DEFENDER TY HARDEN

On registering a shuout:
"It feels really nice. It just feels good to get three points again. It was an exciting win, and a clean sheet is just a bonus for all of us."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY MIDFIELDER KELLY GRAY

On debuting with a win:
"The first game is always very exciting. The fans are amazing and incredible; the crowd was great tonight. Our team played really well, and I think the game could have been four or five to zero. I am very happy with it all, but just great to get the win."

CHICAGO FIRE INTERIM HEAD COACH DENIS HAMLETT

On tonight's match:
"I think tonight was a good night for us in terms of us working on things we've talked about with keeping the ball moving, guys getting active. For the most part, we were pretty good. The issue came in the final third. I think we created, maybe, one shot on goal, two shots over all. That's the part we let ourselves down tonight. Obviously, two PKs. Last week we got a break they didn't call it, this week they called two. It's all apart of the game. We just have to deal with that part of it.

On the lack of shots:
"That's an issue we've had. We're trying to create chances and opportunities, but right now it's very difficult for us. The only thing we can do is regroup, and get ready for Saturday's game."

On missing key players up top:
"Listen, there is no secret there. When Justin (Mapp), Chris Rolfe, Blanco and Thiago and all these guys are healthy and back, it changes, but right now this is what we have and we have to deal with it. And, we have to just keep working."

On qualifying for playoffs:
"I don't think so. If my math is correct, we are eight points out of first place in our division. That's not a big hole. Saturday just becomes a very important game."

CHICAGO FIRE FORWARD CALEN CARR

On the result:
"Well, obviously we're disappointed that we came out with a loss. We had a tied last week, and we wanted to build on that. We want to always be getting points, especially since we feel like we are a pretty good team on the road, and we could have gotten points tonight. So there is a little bit of frustration."

On how the Fire played:
"I thought we moved the ball pretty well. We had good possession. We moved it through the midfield pretty well. I think that we needed to get a few more good passes together and find a finishing touch."
