Fulham's Davies seeks revenge vs. Everton

So far with Everton, throughout the 2007 season, Simon Davies has scored three goals in 15 games.

Lawrie Sanchez has warned Everton that Simon Davies returns to Goodison a different player.

Davies has been one of Fulham's leading lights this season, scoring three times and creating a host of chances from right midfield.

The 28-year-old failed to impress during spells at Tottenham and Everton before former Cottagers boss Chris Coleman rescued him from the Toffees last January.

And Sanchez believes Wales international Davies is finally beginning to live up to expectation after finding his natural home at Craven Cottage.

"Simon will be looking forward to going back to his old club," he said.

"Someone said to me the other day he's now living up to the potential he showed when Tottenham bought him from Peterborough.

"He didn't have the best time at Spurs and he wasn't at Everton for that long.

"But now he's in a settled position in a settled team and he's showing the qualities those clubs thought he had.

"He's having a great season and has got the Welsh captaincy on the back of it."

Everton continue to thrive under David Moyes and former Wycombe boss Sanchez is an admirer of any manager who starts their career outside the Barclays Premier League.

"I have more affinity with people in the lower leagues who have worked their way up," he said.

"They've proved they're good enough to get to the top with a body of work from the lower leagues.

"Everton got to Moyes when he was at Preston and he's done a good job.

"The important thing with Moyes is that he has had a couple of hiccups, including a point when Everton slipped into the relegation zone.

"It would have been easy to get rid of him but the club stuck with him and are experiencing good times because of it.

"They knew he was the right man, stayed loyal and it's proving the right decision."

Fulham have been given some promising news on the injury front with Moritz Volz almost ready to make his first team return.

The German full-back has been suffering from shoulder, groin and foot problems but should be available for Newcastle a week tomorrow.

But the return of Brian McBride and Jimmy Bullard has been pushed back to January as the duo continue their rehabilitation from knee injuries.

"Moritz has been out for most of the season so we'll give him another reserve game before we throw him into the first team," said Sanchez.

"We're looking at the beginning of January for Brian. Sometimes you have a bad week when you're working at full tilt and that can put you back a bit.

"Jimmy's returned to first team training and is doing tackling, although it's not full contact.

"He's enjoying himself and we hope to have him back over the new year period."
