The five best goals of the 2006 Major League Soccer season - as voted by the fans on the League's official website, www.MLSnet.com - are finalists for the 2006 Sierra Mist Goal of the Year. The original ballot of 40 top goals was reduced to ten in the first round of voting, and then to the top five through voting which ended on Tuesday. From Wednesday, Nov. 1 until Wednesday, Nov. 8, fans can vote for the 2006 Sierra Mist Goal of the Year from the following five finalists:
Brian Ching- D.C. United vs. Houston Dynamo in Week 27, September 30 A perfectly-executed bicycle kick to give Houston a 1-0 lead in the 85th minute
Dwayne De Rosario - Houston Dynamo vs. Chicago in Week 23, August 30 Audacious, lofted shot from midfield finds its way into the net
Facundo Erpen - New York vs. D.C. United in Week 4, Saturday April 22 Powerful blast from 30 yards out that hits the upper right corner of the net
Carlos Ruiz - F.C. Dallas vs. New England in Week 8, May 20 Takes a loose ball, turns and beats the goalkeeper from nearly 50 yards out
Carey Talley - Chivas U.S.A vs. Real Salt Lake in Week 18, July 26 Strikes the ball from nearly 40 yards out and nails the top right corner of the goal
