Fireworks to fly at Arrowhead on July 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City Wizards are proud to announce its traditional Fourth of July weekend Fireworks Spectacular. Following the Wizards' July 1st match against the defending MLS Cup Champion Los Angeles Galaxy, they will kick off the Independence Day weekend with the best fireworks show that Kansas City has to offer.

The Wizards' fireworks spectacular on July 1st is a wonderful way to start the Fourth of July weekend with family and friends alike and has traditionally been a fan favorite.

"Arrowhead is the place to be for soccer and fireworks on Saturday, July 1st. What better way to welcome back Jimmy Conrad, Eddie Johnson and Josh Wolff back to Kansas City," said Wizards General Manager Curt Johnson. "To avoid delays on game day, I encourage fans to get their tickets in advance."

The Wizards/Galaxy match up has always been contentious and hard fought back to their days as fellow members of the Western Conference. Although they no longer play in the same conference, the emotion and excitement has stayed the same. Three times these two sides have played for the right to advance to the MLS Cup, with Kansas City twice tipping the scale in its favor. The Wizards have lost just twice in the last ten meetings with Los Angeles.

Choreographed to music with a patriotic theme, the Wizards' fireworks show is the most spectacular display of Fourth of July fireworks in Kansas City. When coupled with the great Major League Soccer action that will be on display when the Wizards and Galaxy kickoff at 7:30 p.m., the sparks will be flying at Arrowhead Stadium on July 1st well into the night.
