Fire Reserves defeat Revolution Reserves 3-0

The Chicago Fire Reserves (1-0-0) notched a 3-0 victory against the New England Revolution Reserves (0-1-0) in a MLS Reserve Division match Friday at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill.


Fire forward Andy Herron scored the game-winning goal, while defender Wilman Conde and midfielder Mike Banner scored the insurance goals. Goalkeepers Nick Noble and Josh Saunders shared the shutout.


In the 33rd minute, the Revolution defense blocked a shot from Fire midfielder Peter Lowry, but Herron capitalized on the loose ball, sending a shot from the right side past goalkeeper Doug Warren.


The Fire doubled the lead in the 44th minute as Conde, positioned off the right post, connected with a Lowry corner kick from the left, and sent a header into the back of the net.


In the 45+' Revolution goalkeeper Doug Warren made a save on a shot taken by Daniel Woolard from the around the penalty spot to hold the score entering halftime.


Banner notched the final goal of the match in the 58th minute, with assists credited to Conde and Herron. Conde sent a pass into the left corner for Herron, who knocked the ball through the Revolution defense to Banner, who redirected the ball into right side of the goal.


The Revolution Reserves return to action against the Kansas City Wizards Reserves on April 10, at Swope Park in Kansas City, Mo. (10:00 a.m. CT).


The Fire Reserves will also face the Kansas City Reserves in their next contest, hosting the match at TOYOTA PARK on April 20 (4:30 p.m. CT).
