Fire 2, Dynamo 2 -- quote sheet

CHICAGO FIRE 2, HOUSTON DYNAMO 2

CHICAGO FIRE FORWARD ANDY HERRON

On the match:
"I think it was really hard. It wasn't our best soccer in the first half and when Houston equalized in the last minute of the first half, and they got a lucky second goal -- for me, that's a lucky goal. Zach (Thornton) couldn't do anything. It's difficult. When the ball is that high and with the wind on the field today, you have to make extra runs to try and tie the game. At least we got the tie and we tried to get the third goal but they were staying put in the back and that was it."

On being called back to represent Costa Rica in the Four Nations Tournament:
"I feel all right. I'm really disappointed I have to go and leave the Fire. I have to thank God for the opportunity to go to the national team and thanks to all the guys - thanks to all my teammates, thanks to the coach because they have given me time on the field, and if it wasn't for my teammates, I wouldn't be doing what I am doing now. I have to say thanks to the Fire and I hope when I come back I can keep scoring for the team."

CHICAGO FIRE MIDFIELDER DIEGO GUTIERREZ

On the game:
"I thought it was a game that we obviously came out with a good mentality but it wasn't as sharp soccer-wise with the ball as we would have liked. I think we gave up a couple soft goals. We reacted in a way where we could come back and at least tie the game. We weren't very happy with the way we played in the first half. Having said that, as we try to fix things in the second half, we find ourselves down a goal and we had to make some alterations to our formation, to our lineup and try to come back and get the equalizer."

On facing Eastern Conference rivals New York Red Bulls next weekend:
"I think we let a couple points escape us tonight, and the game plan is to come back and get three points on Sunday."

HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH DOMINIC KINNEAR

On his hopes for winning the game at the 2-1 mark:
"Yes, I thought that we were in good position and I think a couple of decisions again went against us tonight. Alejandro [Moreno] goes through and makes a great run and gets clipped and they see it differently and they cautioned him and then a penalty kick the other way. Kind of funny how these actions seem to be going downhill for us rather than uphill but it was a funny goal by Dwayne [De Rosario]. The team played well, we attacked them, we broke well on them, we handled the pressure well, and then the ball bounces, contact in the box and you get a penalty kick against us. It's just unfortunate. I feel bad for the guys because the work they put in tonight was excellent."

HOUSTON DYNAMO FORWARD CHRIS WONDOLOWSKI

On his first career goal:
"It was a good play by Alejandro [Moreno] keeping it in, and then Eddie [Robinson] with the great pass so it's kind of a sitter but I'll take it. I'm kind of disappointed because we were hoping to get out of here with three points but to come out with a tie on the road, we'll take it."

HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER DWAYNE DE ROSARIO

On his goal:
"I was just waiting for my moment to actually do it. I got about halfway and I said 'Hey, what the heck, let me go for it.' And I went for it and it went in the net."

On the result:
"I'm disappointed with the way things went for us today. I don't know what it is, but we're not getting a lot of breaks. If the referees are going to [award] penalty kicks, they should award them to both teams. It's a shame to see. As a player, it's disheartening."

On getting the tie instead of the win:
"That's the way we have to look at it now, it's a point. But giving them a penalty shot like that, and not giving us penalty shot, it's basically a slap in the face. We work so hard to get a goal, we scored a great goal and basically it gets taken away. We have to keep our heads up, we have Dallas this weekend, and it's a great opportunity to get up front of them in the standings."
