Fire 1, Dynamo 0 -- quote sheet

CHICAGO FIRE 1, HOUSTON DYNAMO 0

CHICAGO FIRE HEAD COACH DAVE SARACHAN

On defeating the defending MLS Cup Champions:
"I was extremely pleased. We know coming in here that it isn't going to be easy, and we put together what I thought was a good lineup and game plan, and I thought our guys from start to finish really competed and pulled out a great win tonight."

On the play of goalkeeper Matt Pickens:
"I didn't think he was tested that much, but when he was, he made the saves."

On the Fire's overall play:
"From back to front, I think our back line was terrific tonight, making it hard on their forwards. Right through the midfield to the front, we made it a difficult night from them, and I think we rewarded ourselves with a good goal from Rolfe."

On being in first place in the Eastern Conference:
"It's never too early to be in first place. It's a good position to be in. Points on the road are critical, and three is a true bonus for us. I think it's a good place to be, and we want to keep it there."

On his team's defensive effort:
"We threw bodies at balls to make sure that nothing got past us, and to me that's a real team effort. That's what makes me the most proud, that everybody had a piece of the win tonight."

CHICAGO FIRE FORWARD CHRIS ROLFE

On his goal:
"It was a great counter-attack ... I was just hanging out on the far side, and I didn't think Gonzalo [Segares] would see me, but he put a great ball over the top. I was pretty sure Wade Barret wasn't going to get to it, but if he was it was going to skim off of his head, so I played back and it came right to me. I took him on and fortunately, he bit on my fake shot, went down and left a hole for me to shoot through."

On Dynamo's scoring problems:
"We knew we were going to have to battle against these guys. The fact that they hadn't scored that much this year didn't mean they couldn't explode tonight. We battled and played hard. We stuck to the game plan, and it worked for us."

HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH DOMINIC KINNEAR

On the Dynamo attack:
"When you push forward, you allow spaces for the other team. You can only push so many guys forward. Fill in the midfield to send somebody forward. When you're down close to the end, you just try to put as many guys close to the goal as possible."

HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER BRAD DAVIS

On Dynamo's scoring problems:
"I think everybody knows we have a good quality squad. Once we start finding the back of the net and clicking together, we'll be fine. It's four games into the season. We didn't win every game last year, but we ended up winning the MLS Cup."

HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER DWAYNE DE ROSARIO

On Dynamo's offensive struggles:
"We created more chances and we pressed them pretty often, but we couldn't find the back of the net. We're going to go home and analyze the tape and continue to work at it. This is our job and we're going to continue to work at it."
