Feb. 13: Dynamo Academy Spotlight

Michael Parrish is one of many Dynamo Academy teammates that will be traveling to Mexico.

The Houston Dynamo Academy is slowly accomplishing its goal of refining the skills of all its players, players who dream of one day participating in the sport at a professional level. Michael Parrish is one of those players. Parrish, along with his Academy teammates, will be traveling to Mexico over the weekend to compete against the Tecos, Atlas, and Chivas academies. With only two days to go before they leave, Parrish feels ready.

"We have been practicing on offense and defense every day, so we should be ready to go down there and play at a good level," said Parrish. "Also, coach (Clarkson) has been training us real hard, so we will be going down there playing our style of soccer and not theirs."

Parrish understands that this is an exciting and valuable opportunity for him and all his teammates to gain invaluable experience that will undoubtedly further their knowledge about the game of soccer.

"Being part of the Houston Dynamo Academy has helped my game by teaching me all of the fundamentals and techniques the right way," said Parrish. "The coaching here is wonderful, and the other players here are as good as anywhere else. This makes the competition here very competitive."

Parrish understands even though he is improving on a daily basis, growth must be an everyday priority for him.

"Improving my game is something I do everyday," said Parrish. "I improve my game not only on the practice field, but also in my free time. The only way anyone can get better is by going the extra mile to achieve what they want to achieve."
