FCD wins Rio Grande Plate -- quote sheet

TIGRES UANL 2, FC DALLAS 0 (2-2 on aggregate; FCD win 5-4 on PKs)

FC DALLAS HEAD COACH COLIN CLARKE

On the first half:
"The first half they were very, very good. I thought they moved the ball around very good. We had inexperience in our back four and they caused us quite a few problems. But you've got to give them a lot of credit cause in the first half I thought they were excellent."

On the changes in the second half:
"We brought some more experience on in the second half and we had most of the possession and controlled and created some chances but just couldn't finish it. They had some counter attacks and had some chances as well.

"I think overall over the course of two games a tie is a fair result and then we had the excitement of going to PK's."

On winning a trophy:
"Brimstone Cup we won, we win the Rio Grande Plate and I think it's a good habit, to learn to how to win trophies and learn what we need to do. And also, to come on the road to a place where the fans are against you, to a hostile atmosphere, and having to deal with that. In the first half, we didn't deal with it too well. We give up a goal right when we didn't want to, less than two minutes into the game.

"But we played some decent ball at times in the first half and had a couple of chances. Jeff [Cassar] made a couple of good saves.

"Overall, I'm very pleased with how the tournament went. The boys enjoyed it and had a great trip down here. It was great to win the first one, you only get one first one so it was great to win it."

On the value of these games for the younger players:
"Without a doubt. Up there everyone had great games in the first leg and then coming down here it was a little more of a difficult time for some of them but the experience will be invaluable for them. And when you look into the future when we hope to play in these tournaments like the Champions Cup and of course for the playoffs."

FC DALLAS GOALKEEPER DARIO SALA

On the mentality of the second half:
"We were playing a man up and I think we could have won it in the 90 minutes. We didn't get it done and then we went to penalties, at which point there's a lot of luck. I was fortunate to choose the correct side on their last penalty kick. I got my hands on two of them so I was close. And it was my turn to shoot and I was glad because I was feeling very confident."

On if he said anything to the Tigres players:
"I spoke to all of them. On their sixth penalty kick I told him, 'If you miss, I'll score,' since I knew that I was our sixth shooter. So I kept talking and talking to him, assuring him that I would go to my right. I made a slight move to my right and then went to my left, and he changed his mind so I was able to get to it. And then on my penalty kick I told the goalkeeper, 'Don't even look at me because I know I'm going to score.'"
