The FC Dallas Juniors program will hold an open tryout at Pizza Hut Park on Saturday, June 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The tryout, open to players born between January 1, 1990 and December 31, 1994, will be held on Pizza Hut Park Field 3. Interested players must pre-register at www.fcdallas.com to ensure their place in the tryout, as walk-up registration will be limited to availability.
Players born between January 1, 1992 and December 31, 1994 will be invited to tryout from 9 to 11 a.m. Players born between January 1, 1990 and December 31, 1991 will tryout from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. Players will need to wear a white t-shirt, bring their own water, and arrive 15 minutes early for warm-up. The FC Dallas Juniors program consists of two elite youth teams that will play in the U-16 and U-18 categories of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy league. The Juniors Program was created to identify and develop the top 13 to 18-year-old local soccer players who will be eligible for promotion to the FC Dallas professional team, without entering the MLS SuperDraft. Twenty players have already been named to the Juniors teams, which will consist of between 40-44 players, with an additional 20 developmental players to be called in to fill roster spots as needed.
The FC Dallas Juniors teams will emphasize high-level training in a professional environment, coached and managed by the FC Dallas coaching staff and sharing the Pizza Hut Park facility with the professional team. The Juniors teams will be funded completely by the pro club, which will assume all costs and expenses for the players as it relates to playing fees, training facilities, and travel to competitions.
The first games for each Juniors team will be a friendly home-and-home series against the Houston Dynamo U-16 and U-18 teams, playing first at Robertson Stadium in Houston on June 26 and then at Pizza Hut Park on July 27, prior to FC Dallas' game versus the Los Angeles Galaxy. The FC Dallas Juniors will also participate in the second annual Soccer United Marketing U-17 Cup.
