NOTES:
•This was FCD's 11th trip to the USOC Quarterfinals in 13 tournament appearances, the fifth time the team has been eliminated in the Quarterfinal round.
•This was the third consecutive year that FC Dallas and the Battery have met in the Open Cup, the last two years they played in South Carolina. FCD won in penalty kicks in 2006 after a 3-3 result in the 4th Round; and won 2-1 in overtime in 2007 in the Quarterfinals.
•Kenny Cooper scored his fourth career Open Cup goal - all four have been against Charleston.
•Dallas is now 23-12 all-time in U.S. Open Cup play.
•Tonight was the fifth time that a team from a lower division has eliminated Dallas from the tournament, the first time since 2003 (lost 4-1 to Wilmington).
•Duilio Davino and Brek Shea each made their Open Cup debuts.
•Tonight's attendance was 5,911. The game was stopped in the 38th minute due to lightning, and then restarted after a 50-minute delay.
•This was the last of a five-games-in-13-days-stretch for FC Dallas.
•Dallas resumes MLS regular season play against the Colorado Rapids at Pizza Hut Park on Sat. July 19 (7:30 p.m. CT on KFWD-52).
•Schellas Hyndman on the game: "It's a huge disappointment for us to be eliminated, because it was a goal for us to compete for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup trophy; so it was a huge disappointment. I think that it started out ok, maybe the first 15-20 minutes we had a gameplan, and we didn't get the goal we wanted. At the same time, we're at home. We wanted a little bit more energy, we wanted to be able to get forward and make some crosses."
