Faviola Cantu is a die-hard Dynamo fan, and couldn't wait to race from work to Fiesta Supermarket in Southwest Houston to get in line for single-game tickets.
"I get very excited about the Dynamo," said Cantu, a second-grade teacher at Jacinto City Elementary.
Cantu arrived at Fiesta over an hour before tickets went on sale at 6 p.m. CT. As the first in line, Cantu was also the first to take part in a unique sports marketing promotion. For the first 50 fans purchasing tickets, the Dynamo matched an equal number of tickets for the April 29 game against the Chicago Fire. Cantu bought four opening-day tickets, then received four extras for the Fire.
A beaming Cantu took photos with Dynamo forward Chris Wondolowski, then said, "This team never lets me down."
A stream of fans followed to purchase tickets, get autographs from Wondolowski, and get a glimpse of the MLS Cup.
The Dynamo opens MLS play April 8 against the Los Angeles Galaxy.
