Dynamo to visit White House, President Bush, to commemorate 2006 MLS Cup championship

HOUSTON, TX - The wait is over. The Houston Dynamo will visit the White House and meet with President George W. Bush this Tuesday, May 29, in the wake of the team's 2006 MLS Cup Championship. The Dynamo becomes the second MLS team (D.C. United was the first, in 1997) to be feted at the White House.

"This is a tremendous honor for the Dynamo, given the instant success our franchise had in our new home," said team President Oliver Luck. "We are grateful that President Bush could plan time from his busy schedule to visit with us."

The White House visit will come three days after the Dynamo plays D.C. United at RFK Stadium. The Dynamo will display the MLS Cup in the East Wing, and team members will present President Bush with mementos from the 2006 Championship Season.

"We're very honored to be invited to the White House" said Dynamo Captain Wade Barrett. "It was a fantastic achievement for us last year, and another in the latest of championships in the state of Texas. We're glad to represent that with the President."

To further commemorate this historic event, the Dynamo plans to offer a photograph from the White House visit to fans at the June 3 contest at Robertson Stadium against FC Dallas.

Wednesday's announcement was made at Lucho of Houston.
