and in fact, did see Joseph Ngwenya put the ball in the back of the net, only for it to be ruled out for offside. Brian Ching hit a low drive from the left side of the area in the 32nd minute that hit the base of the far post and came back out.
• The game turned in the 42nd minute when TFC midfielder Maurice Edu was sent off by referee Abbey Okulaja following a mid-air challenge with Houston's Brian Mullan that left the Dynamo midfielder bloodied and shaken.
• Dynamo piled on the pressure over the closing 45 minutes, but were unable to break through the TFC defense. But Houston kept the clean sheet to extend their shutout run to better than 11-1/2 hours, besting the mark of 682 minutes set by the Kansas City Wizards in 2000.
• Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear made three changes to the team that defeated the Chicago Fire 4-0 at Toyota Park three days earlier. Patrick Ianni came in for the injured Ryan Cochrane in central defense, while Dwayne De Rosario and Brian Ching resumed their starting duties, in place of Richard Mulrooney and Nate Jaqua.
• Here's Kinnear's team (4-3-1-2): Pat Onstad - Craig Waibel, Patrick Ianni, Eddie Robinson (Chris Wondolowski 86), Wade Barrett - Brian Mullan (Richard Mulrooney 46), Ricardo Clark, Stuart Holden - Dwayne De Rosario - Brian Ching, Joseph Ngwenya (Nate Jaqua 60). Substitutes Not Used: Mike Chabala, Paul Dalglish, Nick Hatzke, Zach Wells
• "The streak is great, but for me, you want to win games. I think tonight we created some chances to score. If you don't score you're keeping them in the game," Kinnear said. "But if you score they kind of have to open up a little bit. It makes it a little easier. Our lack of finishing tonight cost us some points. Their 'keeper made some great saves, and we hit some posts. I think if we finish on one of those chances we're probably a little bit happier."

TEAM NEWS
• While there was a sense of accomplishment after having set the shutout record, Dynamo still felt the night was unfinished, not able to come away with the three points.
• "That's something. You will always remember this as one of the best defenses in team history at least until it's broken," said Dynamo defender Eddie Robinson. "I think it's been like seven years since that record was set. Even if it takes another seven or 10 (to break it). But, who knows? Maybe we aren't done yet. We just want to keep that streak going.
• "It's bittersweet. We want to win every game. This is a hungry team. Guys are disappointed that we didn't win tonight, but that's the kind of attitude you like to see. Your teammates want to do better and they know they can do better. We wanted three points, but we didn't. We just need to keep plugging along, and we will be all right come playoffs."
• Pat Onstad has now been in goal for the last five matches. "It is a team record. I always thought goals against is a team statistic," Onstad said. "As I've said before, it starts with our front two. When they put pressure on the ball, it makes the other team's job very difficult. I think the guys follow suit when those two guys are working hard."
• The draw also came at the end of an 11-day stretch where Dynamo played five games, including a loss in the U.S. Open Cup to the Charleston Battery, though they went undefeated against league competition.
• "I told the guys in the last 10 games we're eight wins and two draws. We're disappointed because the guys are hungry for more wins, and they feel we should've won. I'm proud of these guys. It's been a tough two weeks with games Thursday, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday. You can tell there were some tired legs out there," Kinnear said. "A much-needed rest is coming for these guys this week. We'll be back at it. I'm disappointed we didn't win this game, but you're looking at a happy coach with a team that's on top of the league. If we were a little more clinical in front of goal, I think we're having a different meeting tonight."
• It was also Dynamo's second scoreless draw over the streak, while they have hit for four goals on three occasions in the run. "It almost takes you back to the beginning of the season -- our game against Toronto FC in Toronto, our game against Chicago here, our game against New England here. Those were three games we absolutely dominated, but we didn't finish our chances," Robinson said. "It's a similar situation here tonight. We got some chances. The field was maybe a bit wet. That might've thrown us off a little. I think this is somebody's way of telling us things can't go our way all the time. You're not going to win every single game even though you'd like to, but that's some record we set tonight."
