Dynamo U-15 team earns hard-fought victory in first game

Houston Dynamo

HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Dynamo U-15 team had to sweat this afternoon to earn its first-ever victory, beating the Eclipse 91 Black soccer team 3-2 at Carl Lewis Track Field.

Eclipse started the game on the attack, and put itself on the board first at the 22nd minute. Cody Baca would strike the ball inside the box, to put his team ahead 1-0.

The Dynamo U-15's reacted fairly quickly, and tied the score at the 30th minute of action, via a good individual play by Abe Matamoros. The first half would finish with both teams tied at one goal apiece.

Once the second half got started, both teams came out firing. It was Eclipse, however, who scored first at the 52nd minute thanks to Oliver Wilson. That, however, would be all the Red team would do on offense for the remainder of the game. Just over 20 minutes later, at the 73rd, the Dynamo tied the game once again courtesy of Joaquin Lewis.

Just as it seemed that the game would end tied at 2 goals apiece, Jabril Jamal came in as a substitute and developed the play of the game. Getting a pass to the right side of the field, Jamal made the run for the opposing goal and fired a hard, low shot that hit the goalkeeper's right pole to give his team the win.

The Dynamo academy returns to the pitch this weekend, when the U-18 team faces off against San Jacinto Community College. That contest, which will be played at San Jacinto, is slated for Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
