As if practice isn't enough of a workout.

Dynamo players Jordan James, Corey Ashe and John Michael Hayden found themselves stranded in Thursday's torrential rain and flood waters, and quickly turned that misfortune into heroics when the three helped other motorists escape danger.

The three players, returning home from a reserve practice early Thursday morning, were diverted through town along with countless other Houston motorists. En route through midtown, James' car stalled on Louisiana and Holman after driving through what originally appeared to be, in James' words, "a puddle." James, Ashe and Hayden pushed Jordan's car out of rising water, then stood by to assist other cars behind them.

"It didn't look that bad at first, but all of a sudden the water was probably 2 1/2 or three-feet high," said James.

The three players' rescue efforts were captured on local television, and in true fashion among these young athletes, they tried to deflect attention after their heroism.

"I wish it hadn't happened and it really turned into a nightmare," said James. "But we were glad to help everyone else and they were really grateful."
