Dynamo trade Corrales to San Jose

The Houston Dynamo have acquired allocation money from the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for the MLS rights to Defender/Midfielder Ramiro Corrales.

Corrales, 30, last played for SK Brann of the Norwegian Premier League. Recently, he has also been a member of the United States Men's National Team, accumulating a total of 5 caps with the Red, White, and Blue. The last one of these caps came last week in Houston, when the U.S. faced CONCACAF rival Mexico. The Dynamo previously owned Corrales' rights through stints with the San Jose Earthquakes in 2001-2004.

"Although we are giving up a solid player, this move gives us more flexibility to go out and address specific areas of need," said Dynamo Chief Operating Officer Chris Canetti. "This deal is primarily about economics. It frees up salary cap space and provides additional resource for us to make other signings."

The Dynamo will kick off its regular season on the road on Saturday, March 29, against the New England Revolution. The Men in Orange will open their 2008 home schedule on Sunday, April 6, against intrastate rival FC Dallas at 2:00 p.m. CT.
