Dynamo to open regular season on the road

The Houston Dynamo will open the 2008 regular season at Gillette Stadium against the New England Revolution, it was announced today.

For the first time in their brief history in the Bayou City, the Men in Orange will open their regular season play as the visiting team. The previous two years, the Dynamo had opened up at home against the Colorado Rapids (2006; 5-2 win) and the Los Angeles Galaxy (2007; 0-0 draw).

Kickoff for this game, a rematch of the 2006 and 2007 MLS Cup contests, is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 29. Locally, the game will be broadcast on El Norte, 850 AM and 101.7 FM.

Houston will make its 2008 home debut the following week, on Sunday, April 6, against intrastate rival FC Dallas. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CT. Locally, the game will also be broadcast on El Norte, 850 AM and 101.7 FM.

The Dynamo, only the second back-to-back champion in MLS history, will kick off the 2008 season playing in the Pan Pacific Tournament in Hawaii in February, along with the Los Angeles Galaxy, J-League Champion Gamba Osaka, and a club to qualify from the Australian Hyundai A-League Final Series, which concludes in February 2008. Besides the regular season, the team will also participate in the CONCACAF Champions' Cup, CONCACAF Champions League, SuperLiga, and the U.S. Open Cup.
