Dynamo to hold auditions for its new entertainment team

HOUSTON, TX - The defending MLS Cup champions will have some new teammates.

No roster numbers will be given to the new additions, but no doubt you won't need jersey numbers to soon know their faces.

Introducing The Dynamo Girls.

The Dynamo Girls will add a new entertainment aspect to the team's game day experience, and will also serve as ambassadors for the club in the community.

Leading the Girls will be Marilu Amador Harman, a former dancer for the NBA's Dallas Mavericks, who directed and created the Houston Rockets Power Dancers.

"The Dynamo Girls will be a group the franchise will be proud of," said Harman. "There's a great opportunity for this portion of the team to be extremely popular, given this fan base. We'll have a high degree of talent."

How quickly will this talent become a part of the Houston sports landscape? "Other professional sports teams in Houston have set the standard for utilizing dance teams as a valuable marketing tool," said Chris Canetti, Dynamo Chief Operating Officer. "We hope to have the team become an integral part of our entertainment and grass roots marketing strategy."

Tryouts for the group are set for March 24-25, 2007, at 24 Hour Fitness, 1800 Lake Woodlands Drive, The Woodlands, Texas, 77380. Registration starts at 9 a.m. CT on Saturday, and the tryouts could last as late as 6 p.m. Sunday's time is TBA pending the turnout on Saturday. More details are at www.houstondynamo.com.
