Dynamo forward Alejandro Moreno called up to Venezuelan national team

HOUSTON, TX - Houston Dynamo Forward Alejandro Moreno has been called up to participate in a friendly game against Uruguay on Wednesday, September 27, it was announced by the Venezuelan Football Federation (FVF).


Moreno is currently one of Houston's starting forwards, along with Brian Ching. He has tallied three goals and distributed four assists in 27 games played in the 2006 regular season. He also leads the league in fouls suffered, with 100.


"I feel happy and satisfied to be given a new opportunity to represent my country in International competition", said Moreno. "I am going into this game against Uruguay with a positive attitude, knowing that I will give everything on the field for Venezuela."


"It is always an honor for any player to be called up to represent his country. Alejandro has been consistent with his play all year round, and we feel that his selection is well deserved. We wish him a successful trip, and hope to have him back in action soon", said Dynamo Head Coach Dominic Kinnear.


The national teams of Venezuela and Uruguay will meet at Pachencho Romero Stadium, in Maracaibo, at 7:00 p.m. local time.


Moreno will participate with the Dynamo in its game against Columbus, which will be played on Saturday, September 23, at Crew Stadium. He will leave for Venezuela upon his return, and is expected to return to Houston on Thursday, September 28.
