Dynamo feted again by Harris County

Tuesday, November 20 proclaimed as Houston Dynamo Day.

Two days after winning MLS Cup 2007, the Houston Dynamo received accolades Tuesday at Harris County Commissioners Court. Dynamo President Oliver Luck was presented with a resolution from Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, stating the following:

Whereas, the Houston dynamo, our Major League Soccer franchise for this region, has brought home consecutive MLS Cup Championships in their first two years in Houston/Harris County, to become on the second team in the history of Major League Soccer to win back-to-back championships; and

Whereas, for the second year in a row, the Houston Dynamo fell behind to the New England Revolution in the MLS Cup Final, and for the second year in a row, Dynamo came back to deny the Revolution victory, winning the 2007 MLS Cup 2-1 at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.; and

Whereas, under the inspiring leadership of Coach Dominic Kinnear and President and General Manager Oliver Luck, the Houston Dynamo have captured the hearts of the southern Texas soccer fans-on and off the field, drawing more than 30,000 fans for each of its home playoff games; and

Whereas, the Houston Dynamo, down one to nothing, showed the heart and soul of the team when Joseph Ngwenya stabbed home the equalizer in the 61st minute, then 13 minutes later Dwayne De Rosario snapped home a header, securing both the win and the game's Most Valuable Player Award for De Rosario, the first two-time winner of the award in MLS Cup history, and

Whereas, the Houston Dynamo will have an opportunity to continue this fabulous run and accomplish something no other MLS team has-winning three in a row: now, therefore

Be it resolved that Harris County Commissioners Court hereby designates Tuesday, November 20, 2007, as

HOUSTON DYNAMO DAY

In Harris County, Texas, and congratulates the Houston Dynamo on this outstanding victory and further offer wishes for continued success.

It is hereby ordered that this resolution be spread upon the minutes of Commissioners Court this 20th day of November, 2007.
