Dynamo extends contract with Dwayne De Rosario through 2010 season

HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Dynamo has reached an agreement with two-time MLS All-Star Dwayne DeRosario that extends De Rosario's contract with the club through the 2010 season. This replaces the existing contract De Rosario had with the franchise schedule to end after the 2008 campaign.

"Dwayne is an integral part of our franchise," said Dynamo President Oliver Luck. "He is the top midfielder in MLS, period. We're excited Dwayne is in the fold, and hopeful he is with us the rest of his career."

De Rosario, 29, will make his second career appearance as an MLS All-Star on Thursday, July 26 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado. De Rosario was Most Valuable Player at last year's event in Bridgeview, Illinois. That same venue, Toyota Park, was the site of DeRosario's bounding goal against the Chicago Fire on August 30 that was a finalist for Goal of the Year.

De Rosario is in his seventh MLS season, all with the same franchise. Dwayne has played in 12 games with the Dynamo in 2007, with three goals. De Rosario spent considerable time this season with the Canadian National Team.

"I'm definitely pleased about this new deal," said De Rosario. "This is a great organization, and the franchise showed a lot of commitment with this new contract. The fans are great here in Houston, and I'm looking forward to playing in front of them for a number of years to come and repeating what we did last year."
