Houston, TX - After winning their second-straight MLS Cup title, the Houston Dynamo continue to share their success with the Bayou City.

Today, the MLS Champs donated the items won in the 2007 MLS Cup Mayoral and Gubernatorial bets-15 live lobsters, 10 Boston Crème pies, and 8 quarts of Clam Chowder- to Houston's Star of Hope Homeless Mission.

"As reigning MLS champions, the Houston Dynamo again made Texas proud by bringing home another MLS Cup Final victory. I knew the Dynamo would not let us down when I placed a friendly wager with Massachusetts Governor Patrick," said Texas Governor Rick Perry. "I am pleased that the results of our wager - a meal of lobster and chowder - will go to a good cause."

"Though the New England Revolution couldn't come through with a win for their fans at the MLS Championships last month, their loss is the gain for some less fortunate residents in Houston," Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino said. "I am pleased that Mayor White has chosen to donate his winnings, some of the finest baked goods Boston has to offer, to the Star of Hope Homeless Mission."

The 15 live lobsters donated by the State of Massachusetts will be prepared in bisque by Ryan Pera, Executive Chef of "The Grove" Restaurant.

"I feel honored to be able to help with this good cause," said Pera. "Christmas is a time for sharing and giving, and what better way to give than to prepare a delicious meal for those less fortunate in our city?"

A Christ-centered organization, celebrating 100 years of service in Houston, the Star of Hope ministers to about 1,000 men, women, and children every day with food, clothing, shelter, Christian care and structured recovery programs. Through Emergency Shelters and Transitional Living Centers, Star of Hope touches the lives of more than 7,000 different homeless people each year - including over 1,600 children.

The Houston Dynamo will open its regular season play on Saturday, March 29, 2008 against the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium. They will then open their home schedule on Sunday, April 6, against intrastate rival FC Dallas.
