Dynamo 4, Chivas 0 -- quote sheet

HOUSTON DYNAMO 4, CHIVAS USA 0

HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH DOMINIC KINNEAR

On the team's play:
"Our first game back was really good. Ryan [Cochrane] and Eddie [Robinson] were very solid tonight defending. They (Chivas USA) like really short passes, so we try to make them play wide. I thought we were all right."

On regaining Dwayne De Rosario and Pat Onstad for Sunday's game in Kansas:
"Obviously we'll be glad to get guys back. When guys go away to serve their country I think it's a bit unfair for them to not be considered to start when they come back -that would be a touch unfair."

On continuing the streak:
"You want to keep playing when you're winning. After the Columbus Crew game, they were spent, so I think the break came at the right time. We gave them a few days off, but when you're winning you enjoy your company. You're glad to be on a team that is winning."

On Brian Mullan's goal:
"It's from 19 yards out against a great goalkeeper. It was a great finish. He was in the wall, and when he spun off the ball found him. It was very good. His reaction was excellent, and his finish was excellent."

HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER BRAD DAVIS

On the game:
"With the guys gone, we needed someone to step up. Joseph [Ngwenya] has come in and done a great job. I'm very happy to be able to contribute to the team as well -whether it's serving the ball in or whatever. I've wanted to score some goals, and tonight that happened."

HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER BRIAN MULLAN

On the team's play, and on playing the forward position:
"We're creating our own luck now, and it's working for us. [Playing forward] felt good. I was a little nervous going into it. It helps when you have Joe [Ngwenya] up there with you. He makes great runs."

HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER RICHARD MULROONEY

On his play:
"It's pretty clear cut. I sit in there and try to win balls and distribute. When you've got the type of players around you, such as I've got, like [Brian] Mullan and [Joseph] Ngwenya -I've got to get those guys the ball. I'm not one to dribble the ball around, I've got to pass it off.

On fitting in with the team:
"It's been as easy as it could've been. The organization has been great, Dominic [Kinnear] has been great. Obviously the most difficult part is moving. I'm pretty much all settled in, the wife is settled in. Obviously we're enjoying what's going on on the field as well."

CHIVAS USA HEAD COACH PREKI

On Dynamo's win:
"I think, obviously, the better team won outright. From the first minute of the game, you could tell that they were the team that wanted it more than us, and they came for 90 minutes."

On the red card issued to defender Shavar Thomas:
"At the end, I don't know if the red card was the right call at that point. I talked to the player, and he said that he fell on his own. I tried to talk to the referee, but he didn't want to hear it. I'll talk to the league and see if we can do something about that."

On his team's play in the first half:
"We had some good chances. If we had scored on those chances, it might have been a different result. But overall, I thought they played with more urgency than us. They really wanted it more than us, and that was reflected in the score."

On Dynamo playing without 4 starters:
"Sometimes it's more dangerous to play the guys who sit on the bench than the guys who are always on the field. Those guys on the bench want to come into the game prove that they can be the starters. Right now, those guys are doing a good job for that team."

CHIVAS USA GOALKEEPER BRAD GUZAN

On Chivas USA's performance:
"We didn't win tonight, and we didn't deserve to win. I don't think we played particularly well as a team, form top to bottom. It was just one of those nights where we didn't come ready to play, and right from the get-go they were ready. We just weren't prepared for this game."

On the weather:
"They've got to play in the same conditions. It's humid, it's hot, but they're a good team, and if you want to win a trophy, you're going to have to come through Houston at some point in time. Right now, we need to figure out how to get some results down here."

On the defense:
"We got a little bit lazy. On Davis' first goal, he had a great finish and put it in the corner. On the third goal, again, good finish, and we were all over the place and we couldn't recover, and they made us pay. When you play a good team like that, that's what happens."

CHIVAS USA FORWARD ANTE RAZOV

On his team's performance:
"Coming into this place, we didn't really have the right mentality, and we didn't match their intensity and aggressiveness. We didn't match their intensity and aggressiveness like we'd have to if we wanted a chance to win tonight. We played really poorly, and we probably got what we deserved."

On the weather:
"It's hot for both teams. It's not like they're playing in air conditioning and we're playing in the heat. Maybe they're a bit more used to the humidity, but that's not the issue. We played during the summer months here, so that's nothing that factors into it. We just played poorly tonight and really didn't give ourselves a chance."

On the need to win in Houston:
"It was a big game and we didn't rise to the occasion. We know that Houston's the one place you're going to have to win if you're going to get your team into the playoffs."
