Dynamo 3, Rapids 1 -- quote sheet

HOUSTON DYNAMO 3, COLORADO RAPIDS 1

COLORADO RAPIDS HEAD COACH FERNANDO CLAVIJO

On the game:
"We never played with the attitude that we needed to play with, we could never get going. We just never looked like we were the team and the attitude that we needed to win. Little by little they started possessing the ball better and passing the ball better, and we could never get going and we paid the price for it. We lost the ball way too easy, and they were not even putting us under pressure, we just lost it in transition."

On the team's performance:

"One of those games that we just couldn't scratch it out, I've never thought that we've played so poorly. We didn't play intelligent enough. You don't want these kinds of games to happen at home, but it happened at home. We have to regroup and look at Thursday to play. We could not possess, we could not pass it, and we lost it very easily out of the midfield. I thought that Kyle [Beckerman] and Jovan [Kirovski] were too deep. They never really participated in the offense until the last 10 minutes. There was a lot of room for them (Houston) to break through the midfield."

On Ugo Ihemelu:
"It's still early in the season. He is a big factor for us at the back; we don't want to risk losing him for more than just one game. He should be definitely back by Thursday. It is one of those things that if you use him today you may lose him for more than one game."

HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH DOMINIC KINNEAR

On the game:
"I thought we all connected pretty well tonight. We worked hard for each other."

HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER DWAYNE DE ROSARIO

On the game:
"We wanted to come here, and not only get a good result, but play well, collectively as a unit, and individually, and I thought we did that for the first time. Colorado got a half-chance and buried it. We didn't put our heads down for a moment, we worked hard, and that determination would eventually pay off. Brian Ching got the first goal through hard work, and the rest of the coals started to come. Hopefully the floodgates are opening and we start to get rolling."

HOUSTON DYNAMO FORWARD BRIAN CHING

On the game:
"Last game I thought we played fairly well -- we controlled the pace. We ended up losing because we couldn't put it together in the final third. We practiced our finishing all week, and we were fortunate to come through with a win today. Put our heads down and work hard and stick to what we're all good at. I think we did that and didn't let the frustration get to us. I thought we controlled the game for the most part, they had a spell here and there, but once they scored it seemed they went defensive, and that's not good to do against a team like us. To get our first victory here against a team that has been playing well is uplifting for us. Hopefully we can continue to build on this and get some more wins."
