Dynamo 3, Chivas USA 1 -- quote sheet

HOUSTON DYNAMO 3, CHIVAS USA 1

HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH KINNEAR

On Dynamo's approach and focus:
"Our approach was the same, but we were able to look at the standings and we know that we are still close to Dallas, so we had to concentrate on playing well because we have been playing well its just been our abiltity to finish our opportunities, so I was glad that we were able to finish our chances today."

On the team's performance:
"Obviously we started of a little slow with that early goal and Pat (Onstad) making those big saves, but I think that that motivated us to play a little sharper and then it came down to who was able to score that second goal knowing that goal could be the one that won that team the game, but I think that the way we played after they scored was very disciplined and very professional."

HOUSTON DYNAMO FORWARD ALEJANDRO MORENO

On the team's performance:
"We knew we were a better team than what we have shown in the past few weeks, so our main focus was to collect three points this week at home and give a performance on the field that we could be proud of."

On his goal:
"I think it was an important goal, it helped to put the game out of reach and allow us to play with a sense of calm."

HOUSTON DYNAMO FORWARD BRIAN CHING

On the game:
"After the last three games, I think we came out a little frustrated and put a lot of pressure on ourselves to win. I think that was a large part of why we were not playing as well as we should of. Today we kind of relaxed a little more and were able to finish our opportunities. The last few games we have had those chances but have not been able to finish them, but we created a lot more today and were able to make the most of them."

On the physical play:
"The game was pretty physical, but I think that it just adds a little spice to the game and makes it more interesting for the fans."

On his form:
"I feel OK, I was a little winded towards the end of the game, but I feel like I am getting my legs back. The big thing is getting use to the weather again, but today wasn't too bad."

On the goal:
"Rico (Ricardo Clark) was able to make a great play down the wing and play in a good ball, and I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time to bury it."

HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER BRIAN MULLAN

On the game:
"It was a really big game for us, probably the biggest game of the season. It's simple, if they won they would go ahead of us in the standings, so we knew we had to come out and play well.

"With the heat today we focused on keeping the ball, make them work hard, and hopefully wear them down."

CHIVAS USA COACH BOB BRADLEY

On the final result:
"It's disappointing. We had a good start, but didn't respond well after they made the game 1-1. It's been a difficult stretch of games, and I think it showed a little bit that we didn't have our normal push in a game, but we will learn from a game like this."

On it being a physical game:
"Anytime you play Houston, that's part of what you face."

On upcoming Open Cup match:
"We want to advance. We want to find a way to still rest a few players; we know how important this match is, and part of our goal is to move forward in the Open Cup."

CHIVAS USA DEFENDER TIM REGAN

On the final result:
"It was a tough game in the Houston field. They are a good team. They play well, and they showed it at their home field to take away games."

On hot, humid conditions:
"I don't think so. They've been doing the same thing we've been doing. I don't think that factors into making us play worse and better. It's just a matter of when we are in good spots defensively to play better, and we created chances, but not as many as they did."

On upcoming Open Cup debut:
"We need to pick our heads up and get back at it. It's our first loss in a long time, and I don't think is a huge negative. Of course we are disappointed, we should analyze it and we should get on with it. Emotionally and physically, we need to get ourselves prepared."

CHIVAS USA FORWARD ANTE RAZOV

On overall performance:
"We matched them competing wise. I think they were a little bit better today."

On upcoming Open Cup match:
"The goal is to win it. We are not going to take it lightly. We're going to go in there with the mindset to win, knowing that we had a pretty tough game at the end of the week."
