Dunivant called to U.S. national team

Defender Todd Dunivant has been called up to the U.S.national team

SECAUCUS, N.J. - U.S. Soccer announced today that U.S. Men's National Team head coach Bob Bradley has invited New York Red Bulls defender Todd Dunivant to the training camp squad that will begin workouts on January 4 at U.S. Soccer's National Training Center in Carson, CA.

The squad will train in preparation for their first international friendlies of the year, when they face Denmark on January 20 at The Home Depot Center at 4:50 p.m. ET (TV: ESPN2, Univision - Tape Delayed) and Mexico on February 7 in Glendale, AZ.

"It is always an honor to play for the U.S.," Dunivant said. "Whenever you get called up, it's a great opportunity to gain valuable experience at the international level and it will be great to get a head start on training for the upcoming MLS season. It's very exciting."

Dunivant has two career caps with the U.S. Men's National Team - both of which were earned in 2006. His first one came in a 5-0 win over Norway on January 29, where he played the full 90 minutes and registered two assists. Dunivant also featured in a 3-2 victory over Japan on February 10.

The Wheat Ridge, CO native, acquired by the Red Bulls this year on June 27 from the Los Angeles Galaxy in exchange for a partial allocation, scored two goals and recorded a pair of assists in nine appearances (eight starts) during his time with New York. Dunivant, who had been hampered with a quadriceps injury during the season, also started and played the full 90 minutes in both of the Red Bulls' playoff games last October against D.C. United.
