Double dose of training for RSL in Spain

Jason Kreis found the back of the net during RSL's training session Wednesday.

RSL trained at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. local time on Wednesday. It was a gorgeous breezy morning session featuring small-sided play and then some running for fitness. In the afternoon, a brief but strong rain shower greeted the team as they took the field, though the rain ceased and the team put in a full 90 minutes, concluding with an 11 v 11 full-field game.

John Ellinger's team was a preview of the starting 11 that may take on Rayo Vallecano on Thursday. Jeff Cunningham and Luis Tejada earned their first significant playing time together up top. Freddy Adu, Jason Kreis, Carey Talley and Chris Klein roamed the midfield. Defenders included trialist Jean Martial Kipre, Daniel Torres, Eddie Pope and Jack Stewart, with Nick Rimando in goal.

Brian Johnson's 11 featured Chris Seitz in goal, with Joey Worthen, Chris Lancos, Dusty Kirby and Steve Curfman on defense. Midfielders included Andy Williams, Kenny Cutler, Duke Hashimoto and Christian Jimenez, while the Browns, Chris and Kyle, teamed up up top. Kreis scored the only goal of the full-team scrimmage, sliding home a cross from Cunningham, who had found space in the corner off a cross-field pass from Kipre.

Atiba Harris and Willis Forko arrive Thursday after clearing visa hurdles.
