Diesel in Disguise on display at rodeo

Diesel in Disguise will represent Dynamo at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

The Houston Dynamo may not be playing at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, but the team will be represented.

Amigo Energy, partner and jersey sponsor of the Houston Dynamo, commissioned Sugar Land artist Tracy Reed to paint pieces for 2008 Mustang Mania, and Reed created Diesel in Disguise as part of her work.

Diesel in Disguise is painted with the seating map of Robertson Stadium on its back, autographed by players and coaches. The colt is also decorated with soccer balls on a grass background. The theme was chosen because the only way that a fox could get into a rodeo would be in disguise. The colt is seen alongside a running mustang, also part of the Amigo Energy display.

The colt and accompanying mustang will be on display throughout the rodeo season, located near the Coca-Cola Gate at Reliant Stadium. Proceeds from the Mustang Mania benefit the Educational Fund of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Once the rodeo comes to a close, the colt and mustang will be moved to their new home at the Amigo Energy office.

Mustang Mania is a program to raise awareness of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in which companies commission artists to paint a selected statue. Last year, Reed placed ninth out of 85 decorated boots with, "Boot me up, Amigo."

The Houston Dynamo play their first home game March 19 in the CONCACAF Champions' Cup and begin MLS play March 29 on the road against the New England Revolution. The Dynamo open their home MLS schedule April 6 against FC Dallas. For tickets and more information, contact the Dynamo at 713-276-7500.
