On Thursday, Dec. 6, Red Bull New York Managing Director Marc de Grandpre was honored by the City of New York and the Department of Juvenile Justice for the Red Bulls' distinguished public service work in providing recreational services for the city's detained youth.

For the past two years, the Red Bulls have held soccer clinics at the Horizon Juvenile Center in the Bronx for over 100 juvenile residents. On Sept. 27, Red Bulls captain Claudio Reyna, forward Jozy Altidore and assistant coach John Harkes helped lead this year's clinic.

"On behalf of the dedicated staff of the Department of Juvenile Justice, we honor Marc de Grandpre for his leadership in making the New York Red Bulls a committed community partner, working to positively intervene in the lives of children in the City's detention system," said DJJ Commissioner Neil Hernandez.

"The Department of Juvenile Justice and Commissioner Hernandez's leadership, vision and passion for the residents in his program allow us to present the game of soccer as a positive outlet for these young residents," de Grandpre said. "We look forward to continuing our growing relationship with the DJJ for years to come."

The clinics were designed to provide a unique athletic experience for underprivileged and behaviorally challenged juveniles, and empower them to make more positive life choices.
