D.C. United youth teams excel

Each of D.C. United boys' youth teams ended their seasons on top of their respective Super Y-League tables, all qualifying for spots at November's National Tournament in Tampa, Florida. The girls' teams were not as successful, but this past week the U-15 girls team pulled out a final win, climbing to seventh in the table and finishing the season at 5-4-3. Over the weekend, the youth teams pulled in a collective record of two wins, two losses, and one tie.

The U-16 boys beat Super Nova FC 3-2 on Saturday and completed their season with a 1-1 tie to the New York Rough Riders on Sunday. They are the only youth team to remain undefeated all season, finishing with a record of 10-0-2.

"The staff here at D.C. United could not be more pleased with the performance of all our teams," said U-13 boys coach Chris Megaloudis. "To have all our boys teams qualify for nationals is a testament to the coaches, players, and organization."

The U-13 boys finished with a record of 11-1, after a tough final game, a 3-8 loss to Quickstrike FC. The U-14 team finished their season last week with a 9-2-3 record.

The U-14 girls suffered a 1-3 loss to TSF Academy to end their season 3-8-2 as only DC United Youth team not to finish with a winning record. The U-15 girls, however, after a slow start, turned around midseason. Their final 1-0 win over the Brooklyn Knights is a testament to their improvement.

All D.C. United youth teams are finished for the season, although the boys' teams will continue to practice as they prepare for Nationals. For more information or to check for updates, visit the United Soccer Leagues website at www.uslsoccer.com.
