D.C. United waives Crowe, Mupier, North and Willis

D.C. United announced today the club has waived Shawn Crowe, Mira Mupier, Brad North and Kiki Willis. Each player will be available to other MLS teams in tomorrow's MLS waiver draft.

Crowe was selected in the first round (11th overall) of the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft. The towering goalkeeper saw action in the Reserve Division, playing in three games (one start). He earned a 2-0 record and split a shutout with goalkeeper Jay Nolly, before injuring his knee. Crowe underwent successful surgery for a torn meniscus in late September and missed the rest of the regular season.

Mupier was signed as a discovery player on May 20 and played only in the Reserve Division, making appearances in six games with three starts. The forward tallied three goals in 320 minutes for the reserves.

North was selected in the second round (24th overall) of the 2007 MLS SuperDraft and spent the season playing in the Reserve Division. He appeared in each of the reserve's 12 games (11 starts), seeing time at both forward and as a defender. He contributed a single assist in 871 minutes on the field.

Willis was acquired by D.C. United via waivers and signed to a developmental contract on March 13. He, however, did not see any action this season for the Black-and-Red. Prior to being signed by United, the midfielder spent two seasons at Elon University, where he scored 18 goals and totaled seven assists.
