D.C. United Reserve Division schedule released

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Major League Soccer announced today the 2007 Reserve Division schedule and format. D.C. United's reserves will kickoff the season on April 15 at home against the Kansas City Wizards and will play a total of 12 games during the year. The club also announced today a friendly with the Richmond Kickers (USL2) on Tuesday, June 19, at the University of Richmond Stadium. The game with the reigning USL2 champions will begin at 7 p.m. ET.

All reserve teams will compete in a single table with a $20,000 team bonus awarded to the team that finishes the season at the top of the table. Each team will play 12 Reserve Division games throughout the course of the season. No team will play any other team more than twice.

MLS RESERVE DIVISION FORMAT:

  • Each team will play 12 games (6 home and 6 away).

  • A total of 20 eligible players for the home team and 20 players for the visiting team may be placed on a club's game roster for any Reserve Division game with each team permitted to make up to six (6) substitutions.

  • Suspensions attributable to yellow and red cards issued in Reserve Division games shall only be imposed for future Reserve Division matches and not for games during the MLS regular season. Conversely, suspensions attributable to yellow and red cards issued during MLS regular season games shall not apply to Reserve Division matches.

  • Any player who receives four yellow cards during the Reserve Division season shall be suspended from the next Reserve Division game in which he may appear.

  • No Player shall play more than 120 minutes in a Reserve Team match and any preceding match(es) that occur within a 60 hour period. Injury time is not considered a part of a player's maximum number of minutes played (e.g., if a player enters a game at halftime and the referee adds two minutes of stoppage time to the end of the second half, the player will be considered to have played 45 minutes since the two minutes of stoppage time is essentially added to make up for 'lost' time).

  • A Reserve Division call-up or "Guest Player" with an MLS team may be eligible to appear in an MLS Reserve Division Game provided that he is properly registered with U.S. Soccer.

  • This year's exhibition with Richmond will mark the eighth meeting between the two clubs with United leading the series 3-2-1. United made their last appearance in Richmond last season for a short-lived exhibition match, during which continuous inclement weather forced the game to be suspended in the 20th minute and ultimately terminated after a one-hour delay due to lightning. Previously, D.C. United traveled to Richmond during the U.S. Open Cup, coming away with a 3-1 victory in 2005 in the Fourth Round, one year after the Kickers ousted the Black-and-Red, 2-1, in the Third Round of the 2004 tournament.

"We are pleased to once again return to Richmond," said United Technical Director Dave Kasper. "We always enjoy playing against the Kickers and we look forward to a great evening of soccer."

General admission tickets are $15/person and can be ordered in advance via RichmondKickers.com. Groups of 20+ can purchase tickets at a discounted rate ($13/person) by called (804) 644-KICK.
