On the signings:
"We had some very exciting signings and worked very hard in the off-season, signing players we feel will make this team better"

On Gonzalo Martinez:
"Gonzalo is a player that has atremendous amount of experience, both domestically and for the Colombia National Team. We're very excited to have a player with that amount of experience and pedigree and a player who possesses a tremendous amount of speed. He's very comfortable on the ball and reads the game very, very well - he knows when to step in, knows how to play the back."

On Jose Carvallo:
"Even though he's young, he has a tremendous amount of experience playing in the Peruvian First Division. He has incredible rhythm and we expect that, along with Zach Wells, will battle each and every day to get the starter job."

On Franco Niell:
"Franco played for a very good club, Argentinos Juniors, and has a terrific style of play. They [Argentinos Juniors] play the game the way Tommy and I, and our coaching staff and Kevin [Payne] likes to play the game. He has an incredible amount of energy when he's on the field. He works non-stop every second that he's on the pitch. He's very hungry and very excited for this change, and we welcome him to the club."

On Gonzalo Peralta:
"Gonzalo's feet are very, very good - he's very comfortable on the ball. One of the things we really liked about him is his ability to direct traffic and lead in the back."

D.C. United Head Coach Tom Soehn

On the signings:
"These guys have played not just for one team, but several teams in several different countries and the language of soccer is the same out on the soccer field."
