D.C. United partner with Alice Ferguson Foundation to participate in Potomac Watershed Cleanup

Washington, D.C. - D.C. United, announced today their involvement in the 19th annual Potomac Watershed Cleanup on Saturday, March 31. United will take part in the cleanup as part of its United Builds program and in partnership with Alice Ferguson Foundation, a group that seeks to encourage personal environmental responsibility by creating connections between people and the natural environment.

D.C. United fans are encouraged to join D.C. United staff and United supporters' groups, Screaming Eagles and La Barra Brava, in helping to dispose of trash before it makes its way to the Potomac River. The cleanup will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday at Poplar Point. Those who would like to participate can meet United front office employees at RFK Stadium's Lot 8 at 8:30 a.m. for transport to the cleanup site.

United Builds connects D.C. United players, coaches, staff and fans with volunteer opportunities throughout the community. To date, D.C. United has worked consistently with various non-profit organizations, such as The Dinner Program for Homeless Women, So Others Might Eat and DC Habitat for Humanity.

Over the past 19 years, the Potomac Watershed Cleanup has overseen the removal of more than 2.5 million pounds of trash in the area and is the largest volunteer-led cleanup on the East coast. The 2007 cleanup will take place at more than 300 sites in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
