D.C. United to face CD Guadalajara in CONCACAF Champions' Cup Semifinals

Washington, D.C. - Following its 3-2 (7-3 aggregate) defeat of CD Olimpia, D.C. United has advanced to face CD Guadalajara in the CONCACAF Champions' Cup Semifinals. The highly anticipated match-up features the most decorated teams from the United States and Mexico, respectively. United, who won the event in 1998, will host the first leg of the home-and-home series, Thursday, March 15 at 8:00 p.m. at RFK Stadium. The Black-and-Red will then travel to Mexico for the return leg. Both matches will be televised live by Fox Soccer Channel.


Individual tickets to United's home date may be purchased at four price levels: Spectator ($25), Premium ($35), VIP ($45) and Mezzanine ($60), while groups of 20 or more can purchase tickets at a discounted price: Spectator ($20), Premium ($30), VIP ($40) and Mezzanine ($55). A special package is also available that combines four tickets to United's Major League Soccer home opener (April 14 vs. KC; 7:30 p.m.) and four tickets to Game 1 versus CD Guadalajara. This package may be purchased at the following price levels: Mezzanine ($360), VIP ($268), Premium ($200) and Spectator ($140). Individual tickets are available at all TicketMaster outlets, including: Macy's, Record & Tape Traders, CD Cellar and Ritmo Latino stores. Ticket may also be purchased online at ticketmaster.com.


CD Guadalajara reached the semifinal round by knocking off Trinidad's W Connection by a 4-2 aggregate score. "Chivas" as the team is known, were the winners of the inaugural Champions' Cup in 1962. Led by technical director Jose Manuel De la Torre, Chivas is led by Mexican National team members Adolfo "Bofo" Bautista, Omar Bravo, Alberto Medina, Gerardo Galindo and Jonny Magallon. Chivas currently have the most Mexican League crowns with 11 and is making a fifth appearance in the Champions' Cup, the first since 1997.


This marks D.C. United's seventh appearance in the CONCACAF Champions' Cup, more than any other MLS team. The Black-and-Red qualified for the event by winning the 2006 MLS Supporters' Shield with a league-best 15-7-10 record (55 pts.). D.C. won the 1998 Champions' Cup by defeating Mexican champions CD Toluca.


The CONCACAF Champions' Cup is the longest running international club competition in the CONCACAF region and has crowned the champion club of the Confederation since its inception over four decades ago. This marks D.C. United's seventh appearance in the tournament, more than any other MLS team. D.C. won the 1998 Champions' Cup by defeating Mexican champions CD Toluca.


The 2007 Champions' Cup final will begin on April 17-19, with the second leg to be played on April 24-26. The winner will qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan later in the year, with the runner-up receiving automatic entry into the 2007 Copa Nissan Sudamericana.
