D.C. United defender Erpen suspended, fined

The Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee today suspended D.C. United defender Facundo Erpen one game and fined him $500 for violent conduct and failure to leave the field in an orderly fashion in D.C. United's 4-3 win over the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, Sept. 23.


Erpen was given a red card for violent conduct on New York's John Wolyniec in the 61st minute of the match. The red card carries an automatic one game suspension and $250 fine. After further review of the incident, the disciplinary committee handed out an additional one-game suspension and fined Erpen $250 for the violent conduct incident as well as an additional $250 for his actions after receiving the red card.


Erpen will serve the automatic one-game red card suspension on Saturday, Sept. 30 when D.C. United face the Houston Dynamo and will miss United's following match versus New England on Oct. 7.
