David Beckham called up to the England national team for August 22 friendly against Germany

England National Team manager Steve McClaren today named LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham in his 28-man squad for England's friendly against Germany at Wembley on Wednesday. Beckham, who is the only player in the squad that plays outside of the Premiership, and the rest of the England National Team will take on archrival Germany in a game that can be seen at 2 p.m. (PT) on Fox Soccer Channel.


Beckham made his first start in a Galaxy uniform on Wednesday night against D.C. United, scoring once and setting up another as LA advanced to the final of the inaugural SuperLiga. He is expected to be back in the Galaxy's starting lineup on Saturday when they take on the New York Red Bulls at Giants Stadium.


Beckham will head to England following the Galaxy's game in New York on Saturday and is scheduled to be back in Los Angeles on Thursday and available for selection in the Galaxy's game against Chivas USA in the Honda SuperClasico. The Galaxy host the third installment of the Honda SuperClasico at The Home Depot Center against Chivas USA on Thursday, August 23 at 7 p.m., in a game that can be seen live on ESPN2.


Beckham and the rest of the Galaxy are back in action on Saturday when they take on the New York Red Bulls at 4:30 p.m. (PT) live on Fox Soccer Channel. LA is back at home on Thursday in the Honda SuperClasico against Chivas USA. The game kicks off from The Home Depot Center at 7 p.m. and tickets are on sale now.
